-
HydroPlot is a soil conditioner designed to retain over 200x its weight in water
-
Applied to the soil prior to seeding, HydroPlot absorbs rainwater as it passes through the root zone
-
Water is slowly released over time, providing crucial hydration to the plant, even when mother nature does not.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is HydroPlot?
- HydroPlot is a potassium-based super absorbent polymer that enhances the soils ability to hold and retain moisture.
- Super absorbent polymers have been used for over 30 years in agricultural and horticultural applications.
- Applied to the root zone, HydroPlot polymers quickly absorb passing rainfall and retain water in the root zone for plants to access.
- HydroPlot polymers expand quickly and are proven hold over 200 times its weigh in water.
- During dry periods, up to 95% of the retained water is available to the root zone for your plants to utilize.
- HydroPlot was created to extend plant life during dry periods so they are still viable when you need them most.
How Does HydroPlot Work?
- HydroPlot is applied to the root zone, ideally 2"-6" below the soil surface. This enhances the total water-holding capacity of the root zone, the soil most critical for plant growth.
- When exposed to water, the HydroPlot polymers expand and absorb water up to 200 times their weight. HydroPlot captures moisture and nutrients that would otherwise be lost through runoff, subsoil absorption, and evaporation.
- During dry periods, up to 95% of the retained water is available to the root zone for your plants to absorb, extending the life of your plants.
When is HydroPlot Applied to My Food Plot?
- Because HydroPlot is most effective when applied 2-6" below soil surface, HydroPlot is best applied when preparing your seed bed prior to planting.
- You can plant seed and/or apply fertilizer immediately after HydroPlot application.
How is HydroPlot Applied?
Application Instructions:
- Prepare soil by rake, tiller, or disc.
- Spread HydroPlot with hand or ATV spreader onto soil.
- Work HydroPlot into soil at depth of 2”-6” using rake, tiller or disc.
- Apply seed and fertilizer to suit.
How Long is HydroPlot Effective For?
- HydroPlot is effective immediately after application and is most effective in its first 12 months.
- The biodegradation rate of HydroPlot varies based on soil aggregate size, concentration of organic molecules, soil oxygen levels, and soil fungi/bacteria levels.
- Polymers degrade into acrylic acid and ammonia which are used as a sole carbon and nitrogen source for growth.
How Much HydroPlot Do I Need For My Food Plot?
- Recommended 20 lbs per acre based on soil type.
